On 28 June, all of the shareholders of the Toulouse-Blagnac Airport company laid the first symbolic stone for the airport extension works. In its breadth and lead times, this impressive project is on scale with the airport's ambition. It responds to a sharp rise in traffic since the start of the year.
Passenger traffic at the Toulouse airport has seen major increases month after month since the start of the year, (+15.3% cumulative traffic since January, compared to last year).
In response to this major growth, in 2018, the airport will be equipped with facilities that have been sized and adapted accordingly. It will also offer new services to travellers and airlines.
“This first stone embodies our commitment to build an even more efficient airport sized for international traffic”, said Anne-Marie Idrac, Chair of the Toulouse-Blagnac Airport Supervisory Board. “Developing the airport is a shared challenge for the benefit of all, because the competitiveness of the airport and the quality of the services it offers are levers for the growth of the regional economy. An attractive airport contributes to the growth of local tourism by attracting foreign tour operators; it also makes it easier for local companies to develop new markets, with the opening of new routes.” See you in April 2018 for the opening of the first extensions: a single security checkpoint spanning 5,000 m² and a boarding jetty.
