Following completion of a substantial modernisation programme in Arrivals at the end of 2015, new plans have been laid to extend and reconfigure the terminal in order to increase the maximum capacity and adapt to changes in traffic whilst maintaining the level of service.
The first stage of the project includes an extension of the Departures level in Hall D with the addition of 2,000m² to house all of the security checkpoints with new-generation equipment. A project to reconfigure and enlarge the shopping area in the departure lounge, which will double the surface area, is being launched at the same time. A connecting space will provide 5,200m² for relaxation, shopping and dining. The second large work site will accommodate the significant development of low-cost traffic and the needs of regional airlines. This will be a 2,500m² pier extension of Hall A with five departure gates opening directly onto the tarmac, for access to the aircraft parked close to the terminal.
These facilities, which will be up and running in 2018, represent an investment of €30 million for Toulouse-Blagnac Airport. Work will begin in the first quarter of 2017 with facilities put into service on a staggered schedule from May to November 2018.
