Two Capitols, One Direct Flight: United Airlines Connects Toulouse and Washington

Published August 28, 2026

From 26 April 2027, United Airlines will operate a daily, year-round nonstop service between Toulouse and Washington Dulles with an Airbus A321XLR. This first nonstop link between Toulouse and the United States marks a new milestone in the international development of Toulouse-Blagnac Airport.

This much-anticipated new service will provide travellers from Toulouse and the surrounding region with nonstop access to the United States, for both leisure and business travel. In the opposite direction, it will create a new gateway to Toulouse and the Occitanie region for American visitors.

Nonstop to Washington, with connections across the Americas

The new route will provide nonstop access to Washington, D.C., the U.S. capital and a major cultural and tourism destination. Washington Dulles is also one of United Airlines’ major U.S. hubs, with more than 280 daily flights to over 130 destinations across the United States, as well as Central America, the Caribbean and South America.

United Airlines arrives in Toulouse

The launch of this route also marks United Airlines’ arrival at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, making it the first U.S. airline to serve the airport. Toulouse’s selection by a major player in international air transport reflects the strength and attractiveness of the local market, as well as its ability to support new long-haul services. This new presence further strengthens Toulouse-Blagnac’s position among international airlines and opens up new opportunities for the development of its network.

The arrival of United Airlines and the launch of a direct route to the United States mark a historic first for the airport. This year-round daily service to Washington is a major asset for the region’s intercontinental connectivity. It opens a new chapter in the international reach of our region. Philippe Crébassa, Chairman of the Executive Board of Toulouse-Blagnac Airport.

The A321XLR, from Toulouse to America

The route will be operated with the Airbus A321XLR, United Airlines’ newest aircraft, configured with four travel classes and 150 seats. Toulouse will therefore be one of five new routes operated by the airline using this aircraft.

Assembled at Airbus’ Toulouse site, this next-generation aircraft combines extended range, improved fuel efficiency and an onboard experience designed for long-haul travel. Seeing it connect its birthplace with the United States on a daily basis gives this route a particularly special significance.
